Miles Edgeworth is an intelligent prosecutor who debuted his career at the mere age of 20. His first confrontation with Phoenix occurs in "Turnabout Sisters".

He is famous and infamous all of once. In one, he earns the respect from the police, as well as the hearts of many women. He was even awared the "King of Prosecutors" trophy for his achievements by the time he was 24. However, Edgeworth felt that this award was simply a joke. After all, he is also rumored to be a cheater. He is described by many as someone goes through dirty lengths to get his "guilty" verdict, including falsifying evidence. With an staggering flawless winning streak for four years, many defense attorneys feared going against him... until Phoenix Wright came into the picture and shattered it.

Despite the rumors, Miles stands that he is not interested in simply glorifying his perfect record. In fact, he still prosecutes despite years of antagonism from others. His main priority is to absolutely guarantee that the criminal is declared guilty, to protect the citizens from future sufferings. His resentment towards defendants, as well as defense attorneys, stems from a traumatic incident that occurred when he was a child. With cases flying by, he never considers the chance that the defendant may be innocent. However, as Phoenix Wright enlightens that someone else may happen to be the murderer, Miles suddenly takes the turn to find the truth of the matter. When the possibility arrives, Miles is truly left with doubt and takes measures to condemn even his own witnesses.

Miles' tactics in court are all adopted from his mentor, the perfectionist prosecutor Manfred von Karma, though he adds a bit of style later in the years. Though not officially stated, it is possible that von Karma is also the adoptive father of Edgeworth. His mother is never identified, but believed to be dead, and his father was murdered fifteen years ago. Edgeworth's main associate would be the goofy detective Dick Gumshoe, whom, despite his many faults, is faithfully loyal to Edgeworth. Despite his popularity, Edgeworth makes no personal connections with others and therefore, has no one to call a friend since working under von Karma.
