deepest memories
Long ago,
Miles Edgeworth was the exact opposite of the "demon attorney". When he was 9 years old,
he was in the same class as Phoenix and Larry. He wasn't the sociable type in school,
however. He was very gifted and won a lot of rewards - however, he didn't need them. He spent most of his free time studying law. He dreamt of being a defense lawyer just like his father, Gregory
Edgeworth. Gregory was a high-ranking defense attorney who had the noble goal to defend
all those innocent. He was like a hero to Miles' eyes. Neither of the three knew each other well, until one day...
Young Phoenix Wright was accused of stealing Edgeworth's monthly lunch money (a pricey $38 too). The envelope was stolen during PE class. That day, Phoenix had a cold and skipped PE. A class trial was set up to incriminate him. With no one in his defense (not even his teacher!), the crying Phoenix was forced to apologize to Miles. Seeing this injustice, Miles had his chance to live up to his father's name:
He shouldn't have to
apologize! The only thing that belongs in a trial is evidence! Anything else has no place!
You should all be ashamed... Amateurs!Teacher: M-Miles?
Miles: It wasn't you who stole my money, was it?
Phoenix: No...
Miles: Then you shouldn't apologize! Everyone's been shouting you did it, but no one has any proof! That is why, Your Honor, this boy is innocent!
Larry also stuck by Phoenix's side, not only feeling pity for the boy - but also because he was the true culprit! After that incident, Phoenix, Miles, and Larry became best friends. As Phoenix learned more about being a defense attorney from Miles, both boys inspired to defend the innocent. Phoenix never let go of this dedication; he began his very career from this moment on. However, after the DL-6 incident, and Miles transferred out of school.
Years later, Phoenix finally sees his friend again... as the ruthless prosecutor. Cruel and arrogant, with no concern except accusing others for crimes they may not have committed.
