rule of franziska
While Franziska rarely speaks to Edgeworth during the game,
she has known him the longest. As the pupil of her father, she has watched Edgeworth grow into the fine prosecutor that he is. She knew he had a strong gift.
Even though he wasn't family, he was worthy of being a von Karma. Not simply as an acquaintance, but almost like a brother. His growth of maturity gave
Franziska the impression that he was the younger one (even though he's her senior).
Yet when Edgeworth "graduated" and moved to America, Franziska was alone. The talk of her brother's accomplishments always covered her own. However, she was the far more prodigious than him - she became an attorney at 13. She worked hard to reach up to her brother, yet her efforts were overshadowed. Then, Edgeworth finally lost a case. The person who was supposedly better had lost his perfection; did this mean she was "imperfect" as well? She couldn't accept it.
Even after her father's death, she worked harder to achieve her goal, though lonesome she was. Sometime after "Turnabout Goodbyes", Edgeworth disappeared. Despaired, she took her frustration on the man who defeated Edgeworth. A sister's cry for her brother was sleeping inside.
Edgeworth ...
Franziska And then... Finally, my chance to take my revenge on you arrived. If I could win against that man... If I could make Phoenix Wright bow down in defeat... Then this "girl" you left behind would have risen higher than you! That was supposed to be my "revenge"...
When she finally met Edgeworth again, Franziska did not anticipate his character change. The man who surpassed her was now going on about "truth" and "justice", though flawed his actions were. And now, she too lost. Franziska felt like she lost her goal and her brother. She couldn't accept it, and went back home. Edgeworth stopped her immediately, and persuaded her to move on.
In a single, heartwarming moment, Franziska broke into tears. Even armed with her whip, she wouldn't hurt him unless he needed to, and she was less cruel in her words. She still loved him.
